Chapter 15: A man with a plan.

This is the plan.

I'm going to talk about myself. This is my blog. I'm moving on.

I'm a good looking guy. I'm talented. I'm funny. I'm smart. I'm dedicated to whatever I'm doing. I keep my promises.  I care about other people. I am highly ambitious, and accomplish anything I set my mind to.

The word QUIT is not in my dictionary.

I want to break a horse. I want to build a fence.

I want to see the result of my blood, sweat, and tears.

I'm proud of the scars on my rough hands.  I know what it means to work.

I AM NOT LIKE TODAY'S MAN.

I don't play video games. I don't even own a TV. I'd rather spend my money on tools.

I appreciate nature.  I've seen the most beautiful sunsets, in many different places.

I wake up in the morning each day at 4:30, and make it to work by 6:00.

I appreciate the sacrifices of my parents.

I care about my family.

The manliest thing a guy can do, is provide for his family.  That's my plan.

I've bought more pairs of boots than shoes.

I'm almost completely debt free. It'll be a proud day for me, here in a few months.

I like art. I love music. I love to read, although I don't make much time for it lately.

I believe in the power of positive thinking.  It's gotten me this far.

I believe in America.  This is still the promised land.  At least, for me it is. No amount of government regulation, or economic turmoil is going to keep me from chasing after my dreams. I love this country, and I'd die for it.

I want to plant a garden of both kinds. I want to learn to grow the most beautiful flowers.
I want to grow perfect vegetables.

I love to cook. Someday, I'll have an amazing kitchen.

I love to fix things. I fixed the dryer downstairs. I've fixed trucks, cars, my equipment. I've fixed broken doors and windows, leaky faucets, broken toilets.  I've installed sprinkler systems, laid sod. I've spread tons of gravel, with a shovel and a wheel barrow.

I've burned my hands and arms with boiling hot oil. I've fixed tires, built engines.
I've managed large work contracts with oil companies.

I've counted cash as a teller at Wells Fargo.
I've flipped burgers at Rocky's.
I've cleaned locker rooms and bathrooms at the pool as a lifeguard.

I'm taking time off from dating. I don't need a girl in my life to feel a sense of purpose.
If I meet a girl who's suitable to go out with on a date, we'll go. But it's not at the front of my mind.

I'm going to learn to fly. I'm proud to follow in the footsteps of my dad.
I'm lucky to find joy in what he did and does.

I won't indulge my kids.  They will get a piece of junk car when they turn 16.  They'll hate to drive it for a while, but years later, they'll look back on it with fond memories.

More specifically, here's the plan.

Within a couple years, I want to have at least one investment property. Real estate is a very cool thing.
I want to continue growing the two businesses I'm involved in.
I want to progress and move up in Western Petroleum. It's an exciting place to be.

Marriage is a possibility within the next several years. In the meantime, I'll continue to prepare myself personally and spiritually to be who I need to be.

That's my plan. I'll make it happen.

I believe in myself.

I believe in you, too.  And you know what? I'm glad we're friends.

I know most people just read this, and for some reason aren't motivated enough to ever leave a comment. A few of you do, and they are always very appreciated.

Today, I want EVERY person who reads this to leave a comment. I want you to write down something that: 1. You are proud of, or 2. You like about yourself.

If 20 people read this, and I don't have 20 comments on this one, I'll be let down.

Romantics, don't let me down. I promise I'll never let you down.

  2. Well afer all that, I can't just close out the page!
Let's see, I'm proud of my family. They are an incredible group of very caring, very kind & very thoughtful individuals who seem to always have faith in the goodness of people.
Now me? Argh. Well, I'm definitely my harshest critic, so lemme see what I can come up with here... I like that I'm quirky & weird. I don't always look at things the way most people do. My sarcasm tends to the clever & witty, rather than the hurtful & mean. I'm a bit of a dreamer & hope that someday in the near future, I can grasp a situation where my dreamer & my reality meet and marry for a happy union.
G- I've always been pretty in awe of you & Reed. When MJ would send along the yearly Christmas letter, it would always be filled w/ many accomplishments & adventures. You've lived so richly (for your age, as compared to mine) and that's so awesome! Even over the course of your posts, I've witnessed you evolving. Thank you for allowing me in & letting me be a part of your world. It's a pretty cool place ;v)

  3. Im proud that even though I have a daughter and all the responsibilities of being a wife and mother I still work at my dreams and goals I set out before I even met the love of my life. I wanted to be in graphic design and I graduated with my associates while slept deprived and recovering from labor. It was so hard, but I didn't let my goals and dreams die after getting married. I was able to find someone who supported me in that and helped. I have a great family that helps me work 2 jobs to help not only provide for my family but I'm a graphic designer now and my #1 goal in high school was to design a billboard for everyone to see and I just submitted my art work yesterday to the company. I'm so proud I kept going even with a child and being a wife. I like about myself: that I've learned "when you sacrafice for someone you love, once you love them, you'll realize it was no sacrafice"

  4. Okay... Here goes.
I'm proud that even though I work in a profession that is filled with men, I am a woman in a management position. I worked two long years to get to where I am and I have extreme pride in the fact that I am very very good at my job. I am proud that I'm not a normal girl. I still have class, don't go crazy at parties, and live a relatively normal life.
And I loooooove my red hair :) only took me twenty years to be able to admit that one! :)
